Laura Kavanaugh's artwork has shifted from her original focus on still images to performance work in real-time sound and image creation.

Recordings of prepared piano, voice, and low-strung violin became material for sound based video pieces- Between Words (1999), Icicles (1999), and Score (2000).

A performance of David Behrman's Wave Train opened up the possibilities of feedback loops in sound generation, and she began using samples and digital effects in performance.

September-December 2001 was spent on a tour of performances in Toronto, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Budapest, and Krakow, and in the fall of 2002 she collaborates with Ian Birse on a series of audio/video performances and installations in Montreal, Barcelona, Weimar and Budapest.
